A Marriage made in the Senate

"Reports to Congress on United States Policy and Military Operations in Iraq.--Not later than 30 days after the date of the enactment of this Act" - Levin (D)

"
Reports to Congress on United States Policy and Military Operations in Iraq.--Not later than 90 days after the date of the enactment of this Act"
- Frist (R)

So, under our own Republican amendment, we get an additional 60 days before sloppy senate staffers bleed our war strategy details out to the media, for chewing and screwing. The resolution states that will not happen. Yeah, right.

Here's a tip for all the RINO Senators at http://jellyfish.gov:

If you want to get re-elected, stop pushing the media agenda, and start pushing the suppressed successes of the war. Show some of that great American optimism that seems to exist only outside of Washington. Talk about the great work of our troops and contractors. Talk about the fact that Iraq is not Vietnam. There are no refugees. Iraqis are repatriating their nation. Iraqis are investing in their future. They are turning out to vote, in large numbers, across all of the Muslim derivatives.
  • Stop whining about the rights of terrorists and treating them like they are Geneva signatories.
  • Stop redefining humiliation as torture.
  • Stop undermining our intelligence.
  • Stop nitpicking the war budget.
  • Stop leaking like a pasta colander full of large caliber holes.
Finally, Stop letting the minority party screw you, then asking us to pay for your room, board and a big jar of petroleum jelly.

Allow the media and the left to falsely define so much then cry that there's waning public support. They're a frustrating bunch these days, to say the least.
The photo, nice touch.

If I can add my $0.02, U.S. Senator Rick Santorum ("R" - PA) was blasted (and rightfully so) for his part in this resolution. The very next day, he was on a Philly talk station talking out of the other side of his mouth, since he is up for re-election. This guy needs to be stopped, even if it means putting a Dem in his spot. Like Arlen Specter, this guy is NOT a real Republican.

BTW, Uber, you're killing me with the new logos!!! Hubba, hubba!

Ohio's two senators are just as bad.
And don't even get me started on our governor the criminal.

BTW, Uber: What Wyatt said.

Peakah - That and more.

uber - Yeah. They yell at each other, but they are still 'doing it'.

Wyatt - That is what is so good about having a bedrock ideology. You can dish it out on both parties.

Jimmyb - Same sentiment. Besides Uber's obvious hot new look, I think the jbSCH thumbnail is a good look for you.

I'm thinking more and more that I won't be voting Republican in the next election. You can't bribe me enough to go Dem, but I might pass on the R's too if they don't start giving me good reasons to.

I don't understand the point of the resolution at all. Rummy says the Congress gets over 150+ reports a year that they obviously never read. The administration can just re-package old reports. These dumb clucks will never know the difference.

I like the part about the big-bore colander. ;)

fitch - The lesser of two evils rationale is a pill that is growing harder to swallow and harder to keep down. I want good candidates, with conservative principles.

gunnnut - As you know, the point is to score political points with the media. What distresses me, is the overall blatant ignorance of the senate. They actually believe that this action will benefit Republicans at election time.

Though this conservative Republican would disagree with you guys on the Iraq war, I agree wholeheartedly with this statement. The leftward movement of the GOP has been a horrible problem that our nation has been facing for many years, especially since the late 1990s. Nonetheless, the GOP Establishment expects grassroots social and fiscal conservatives to continue supporting the Republican Party. It has worked, in large part, so far.

But how longer will that be the case?

aakash - Thanks for stopping by.

It’s a difficult conundrum, made so by the media. You have a large, biased unelected force, exerting decisive negative pressure on the forward progress of conservatives. They don’t care if they lie. They don’t care if they sensationalize the facts. They don’t care if they are caught. How soon, if ever, will conservatives in Washington realize that the MSM was not elected to office? The senate GOP is so engaged, in the fear of political risk, they are paralyzed. Some take that small sip of that liberal hemlock, and the surrounding media cheers them on, as having the ‘courage’ to step out of the evil conservative realm. The truth is the inverse. They are weak for not being principled by standing against this faux ‘populism’ and doing what is right.

I am a believer that suffering is a good teacher. However, we have suffered through forty years of failed social engineering. Would staying away from the polls, and giving another dose of that Clinton poison to the American people, be effective in teaching them. Maybe, if it doesn’t kill them first. In the GWOT, I do not want to risk it. So we seem to be dying the slow death of a thousand compromises.

Our only way out is to move our grassroots efforts to the primary process. Put conservatives against lesser conservatives on the primary ballots. Put conservatives in the media. Educate the public that entitlement government is oppressive.

Ronald Reagan stood on his principles. He moved from Democrat to Republican on ideological grounds. We know that this sort of forward progress is possible, through slow methodical grassroots effort. Now that the Republicans have Theodore Roosevelt's big stick in their hands, they need to be shown how to use it. ( Where is that big humming, right wing, rectangular monolith when you need it? )
